I used 3 of these grass "throw rugs" on my backyard patio, for my two German Shepherds!. They sleep, chew their toys, and eat their snacks on them. I have a xeriscaped yard, so these rugs are the only grass out there.I have a playhouse for my kids that had a dirt floor. I bought two of these and they filled it up perfectly. It was easy to cut to shape and I didn't even stake it down and it still looks great!Aesthetically this is an excellent grass. There is no plasticy sheen. Every blade seems to be a hair shorter or longer than the surrounding blades, giving this mat a very realistic "freshly mowed yesterday" appearance. This mat does shed quite a bit, and the foot-feel is comfortable, but not entirely grass-like.There is no difficulty growing grass in my region. I'm using one of these mats in a tray on my lanai for late night doggie runs. There are a few likely predators roaming around the back yard at night, and this mat seems like a good alternative to the back yard. Unfortunately, the dogs seem to prefer the tile around this mat... but it still looks very nice and convincing on the patio. Considering my use-case, I don't get around to walking on this grass much, so the slightly artificial feel doesn't matter to me.There are blades of grass from this mat all over the patio, I suppose that wouldn't be an issue for an artificial turf installation unless it shed enough to reveal bare spots. The shedding has diminished since new, so it's likely some of the loose blades blowing out and not secured blades falling out of the mat.I have some young hens (pullets) that aren't laying yet. I heard that artificial grass is great for their nesting boxes, easy to clean, and keeps eggs intact. I can't speak for that yet. This came rolled and well-sealed... it probably took me almost 5 minutes to unwrap it. It is pretty flat as it was all rolled together but it will go up a bit when rubbed against the grain... but not a lot. I got some residue on my hands doing so, that feels a little waxy, so that's one concern. I also noted a strain of black fabric that I was able to pull off it that was a few feet long. I wanted to make sure I got a product that would not have long strains as I wouldn't want my girls eating it. Most of it seems pretty secure, but I'll definitely be watching for more of that.Overall it seems nice, but I do have concerns with this for animal use, as noted above. It looks nice and feels fairly soft to the touch. I like the underside of it and how it feels like it would have great traction. It isn't too heavy but seems durable.Compared to artificial turf that's meant to be used in your yard - this is a bit below average - a large expanse of this, especially in the bright sunlight wouldn't look very natural - but it's FAR better than the tacky short plastic stuff of the old days. But as a small piece for your pets, it's rather nice - so it all depends on your perspective. We have young Bengal kitty who is currently an indoor cat who longs to be outside so we built him an enclosed catico "play room" outside. This piece of greenery really makes it look nicer and gives the little guy a nice place to stretch out and pretend he's back in the jungle. It sheds quite a bit when you first unpackage it but I think those were just loose pieces from manufacturing and packaging - I do not believe it will continue to lose any blades. There is no noticeable odor so you can use it indoors as well. Our cat does not use it for "doing his business" so I can't really comment on how effective or easy to clean it is, but I suspect it's pretty good. This is a decent quality grass rug. I put it in front of our above ground pool. It’s held up well and the kids like the feel of it under their feet. Keeps a lot of dirt out the pool too. It’s easy to shake the dirt and leaves off of it. Looks nice.Love this. Was planning on decorating my balcony with it but it is not every big. It’s actually pretty small & reminds me of a rug or something. I may need 3 more to complete the project I am trying to do. I love it though it’s really softSheds quite a bit and takes a while to fluff up, but looks nice. Very easy to unpack and lay out.
